FAQ
Backup & disaster recovery FAQs
How much does backup and disaster recovery cost?
US clients pay $100 to $500 per month and Australian clients pay A$150 to A$700 per month. A single small server with daily offsite snapshots sits at the low end. Multiple servers, databases, and hourly retention sit at the top.
How long does it take to set up?
Three to seven days for a typical small stack. The setup itself is quick; proving the restore actually works is what takes the time, and that step is not optional.
Who owns the backups?
You do. Storage lives in your cloud account and you hold the credentials. If you leave, the backups stay with you and keep running.
What happens after launch?
Backups run on a schedule, alerting watches them, and we test a restore every quarter. The quarterly test is the part most providers skip, and it is the only thing that proves your backups are real.
How fast can you actually restore our site?
For a small site with a database under a few gigabytes, four to eight hours is realistic including verification. Large databases take longer because the file transfer itself is the bottleneck. We measure your real restore time during onboarding and write that number into the plan.
Do you cover ransomware, not just hardware failure?
Partly. Immutable or versioned offsite storage means an encrypted copy of your live files does not overwrite clean history, so you can roll back to a pre-infection snapshot. That only helps if you catch it inside your retention window, so retention length matters.
