FAQ
E-commerce store FAQs
How much does an e-commerce store cost?
Between roughly $2,000 and $8,000 USD, or A$3,000 to A$11,000. The range is wide because cost is driven almost entirely by how many other systems the store must talk to. A standalone store with standard payments sits at the lower end. One that synchronises live inventory with a warehouse system, pushes orders into an ERP, and pulls pricing from supplier feeds sits at the upper end, because every integration needs error handling, retries and testing.
Should I use Shopify or a custom-built store?
Shopify is the right answer when your business fits its model: standard products, standard shipping, standard checkout. It is rented by design, you pay monthly, and you accept its constraints. A custom build makes sense when you need pricing rules, product configurators, B2B ordering, unusual fulfilment, or integrations Shopify does not support. We will tell you honestly which fits rather than defaulting to the more expensive option.
Which e-commerce platforms and technologies do you support?
We build headless custom storefronts (Next.js or Astro with Medusa or the Shopify Storefront API) as well as customised Shopify and WooCommerce implementations. The choice usually comes down to how much product logic is standard versus specific to your business.
Can you integrate local and international payment gateways together?
Yes. We integrate domestic gateways (SSLCommerz, bKash, Nagad, Aamarpay) and international ones (Stripe, PayPal, Apple Pay) with automated currency switching. Gateway choice comes down to fees and settlement terms, so we implement what your finance side has agreed rather than pushing a preferred vendor.
How long does it take to build an online store?
A focused store with a standard catalogue and payments typically takes six to ten weeks. Add integrations, multi-currency, or a large product migration and it becomes three to five months. The biggest cause of delay is rarely development. It is product data. If your catalogue is not clean and ready, that becomes the critical path.
Can you migrate our existing store without losing search rankings?
Yes, and this is one of the most common reasons clients come to us. The work is in the redirect map: every existing product, category and content URL needs a permanent redirect to its new equivalent. Skip that and years of accumulated search visibility disappears. We build the redirect map as part of the migration, not as an afterthought.
Is product data migration included from our current store?
Yes. We handle catalog migration covering product variants, images, pricing tiers and, where the source system allows it, past order history. We audit the existing data first, because importing a decade of duplicates and orphaned records is worse than starting clean.
Who owns the store and the source code afterwards?
You do, fully. You receive the source code, database, deployment configuration and documentation. There is no proprietary page builder holding your store hostage and no licence fee required to keep running what we built. If you later want to move to another developer, nothing technically prevents that.
What happens if the store breaks after launch?
Every project includes three months of post-launch support covering bugs, meaning anything that does not work as agreed. We fix those at no charge. New features and new integrations are new work and are quoted separately, because confusing the two is how client relationships go wrong.
How do you make an image-heavy store load quickly?
Through responsive image pipelines with modern formats and correct sizing per breakpoint, edge caching, and server-rendered category pages rather than client-side rendering. Product pages that load in under two seconds on a mid-range phone convert measurably better than ones taking five.
