FAQ
Privacy policy, T&C & GDPR FAQs
How much does privacy policy and T&C drafting cost?
$200 to $800 USD, or A$300 to A$1,000. A straightforward website with a contact form and analytics sits at the lower end. E-commerce with payment gateways, a newsletter, and customers in both the EU and California sits at the upper end, because more data flows need describing and more jurisdictions apply. The price covers drafting and one revision round.
Are you lawyers? Can this be relied on legally?
No. We are not lawyers and this is not legal advice. We draft the technical and structural parts: what data your site collects, where it goes, how long it is held, and how consent is captured. For anything with real exposure, such as a data breach clause, a liability cap, or sector-specific regulation, have a qualified lawyer in your jurisdiction review the draft. Our documents cost a fraction of a law firm's and cover the common ground well, but they are a starting point rather than a substitute.
Do we need GDPR compliance if we are not in Europe?
Possibly. GDPR follows the person, not the company. If you offer goods or services to people in the EU, or monitor their behaviour, it can apply to you regardless of where you are based. A Bangladeshi or Australian business selling to a German customer is within scope for that customer's data. CCPA works differently and applies mainly to larger businesses meeting revenue or data-volume thresholds in California.
What does a cookie banner actually need to do?
It needs to hold non-essential cookies back until the visitor agrees, let them refuse as easily as they accept, and record what they chose and when. A banner that loads analytics immediately and offers only an accept button does not comply, and regulators in several EU countries have fined companies over exactly that pattern. We audit every script on your site so the banner controls the right things rather than just the ones you remembered.
How long does this take?
Five to ten working days for a standard set covering a website with a contact form and analytics. Two to three weeks for e-commerce or anything with multiple data flows across several jurisdictions. The delay is usually on your side: we need to know which tools you use, where data is stored, and who inside the company can access it. Answers that arrive slowly make the documents slower to finish.
What happens when our tools change?
The documents need updating, and this happens more often than people expect: a new marketing tool, an added payment method, a switch to a different email platform. Minor updates are quoted hourly and usually take one to two hours. We will also flag when a change is significant enough to need a lawyer's eye rather than a quick revision, because not every update is the same size.
Who owns the documents once they are written?
You do, entirely, and we hand them over as editable documents rather than a locked PDF, so your lawyer or your own team can amend them. We keep a copy for our records but do not reuse your specific wording for other clients. Your data flows are unusual enough that a copied policy would be inaccurate anyway.
