FAQ

Website audit & health check FAQs

How much does a website audit cost?

Audits run from $200 to $1,000 USD, or A$300 to A$1,400. A site under 50 pages with standard checks sits at the lower end and is usually delivered in 3 to 5 days as noted on this page. Large e-commerce catalogues, sites with complex JavaScript rendering, or audits requiring conversion and analytics analysis sit at the top and take longer. You get a fixed quote before we start.

How long does the audit take?

Three to five working days for most sites. Sites over 2,000 URLs take around a week, and heavy single-page applications add time because we have to verify what search engines actually see versus what the browser renders. If you need the findings fast, we can deliver a critical-issues summary within 48 hours and the full report after, which several clients choose before a campaign launch.

Who owns the audit report and the data behind it?

You own the report and everything in it. Crawl exports, Lighthouse JSON, screenshots and the prioritised issue spreadsheet are handed over in full, and you can pass them to any developer or agency. We do not hold findings back to force you into a retainer. Plenty of clients take the report to their own team and never hire us again, and that is a fine outcome.

Will you fix the issues you find, and is that included?

Fixing is not included in the audit price, and we are clear about that upfront. The audit tells you what is wrong and how severe it is. If you want the work done, we quote it separately, usually as a phased plan so you can tackle the critical items first. If another developer does the fixes, we are happy to answer their questions about our findings at no charge.

Can you audit a site built by another agency or on a platform you do not use?

Yes. Audits are platform agnostic, and we regularly review WordPress, Squarespace, Wix, Shopify, Webflow, custom PHP, Rails and static sites. For closed platforms like Wix and Squarespace, some fixes are simply not possible because you cannot change the underlying code, and the report will say that plainly rather than listing issues you cannot act on. We never need admin access to run an external audit, though it helps for security checks.

Do you test on real mobile devices and connections?

For the top pages, yes, including throttled 3G and 4G profiles that match how people actually browse in regional Australia, the US and Bangladesh. Automated tools like Lighthouse run on fast simulated hardware and routinely miss real-world problems, particularly on mid-range Android phones. Where we rely on a simulated result rather than a physical device, the report labels it as such so you know how much weight to give it.
